Lot 1618 Eddystone 1917 .458 Win Mag #57382
A highly sporterized bolt action rifle rechambered in .458 Winchester Magnum built on an Eddystone Model 1917. This was originally a U.S. military Mauser pattern rifle. It features an in-the-white 26 1/2" tapered barrel with a raised blade/bead front sight, an adjustable rear sight (original military sights removed), 'dog-leg' bolt handle, serrated curved trigger, floor plate is screwed closed, and stripper clip guides cut into the receiver. The furniture consists of a hardwood Monte Carlo style stock with a rubber recoil pad and white spacer, a decorative plastic grip cap with a metal bird and stone, no sling studs, no texturing, possible missing end-cap, and has eight filled holes. The bore is bright with strong rifling. The action feels smooth and tight. Blue finish on the receiver, trigger guard, and floorplate are at approximately 50% with edge wear, patina, and general fading. The receiver has many holes, and a dent where optic mounting hole drilling left marks. The exterior barrel finish is good with no heavy marks, or visible rust. The wood is good with minor handling marks, but cannot get a better rating because of the missing parts noted earlier, and the filled holes.
Condition is NRA Fair to Good.
